Two new installations were completed in Southeast Asia recently, one of which is shown at the right. Each site has two SCAFCO Model 4864ESZ1 silos, with G-140 (450 g/m2) galvanization, storing 5,200 MT (210,218 bushels) of corn. SCAFCO also supplied several chain conveyors for the facilities, ranging from 2 to 38 (7′ – 125′) meters in length. International Sales Manager Vikas Shrivastava reports “SCAFCO exceeded the customer’s expectations and they will be including our silos and equipment on upcoming projects.”
Regan Heaton, SCAFCO Grain Systems Sales Manager US/Canada, was present for the commissioning of this truck receiving facility in New Zealand. The operation is nestled into lush New Zealand farmland and supplies many major baking companies in Oceania. Their truck receiving facility now features a range of brand-new SCAFCO Grain Systems Company equipment: A receiving pit, 150 TPH elevator, chain conveyors, support structures, and catwalks. This equipment accompanies three new 54′ (16.46m) 4,725MT (173,650 bushels) silos that store wheat. According to Regan, “They are very pleased with the performance of their new facility; it allows them to be the most efficient supplier for their customers.” Regan also added, “I’d like to thank our customer for their business and trusting SCAFCO Grain Systems with this state-of-the-art facility.”
Aeration is an important aspect of every grain storage system. Properly operated aeration systems keep grain in good condition and help control insect infestation and moisture migration, reducing grain spoilage.
SCAFCO aeration and drying floor systems can be installed in new or existing storage facilities. We offer commercial flush floor, full perforated plank floors systems in both standard 3/32” (2.38mm) diameter round holes and small seed (Canola) 0.050 (1.27 mm) perforated round holes, perforated pipe above floor aeration, etc. Our high efficiency centrifugal and axial fans are all galvanized and available in both 50 and 60 Hz.

Why Seismic Design Is Critical for Grain Storage Silos
Some of Earth’s most fertile soil can be found on shaky ground. For manufacturers of grain storage silos and other agricultural structures, failure to take seismic activity into account can lead to more rapid deterioration of materials on-site and catastrophic structural failure in the event of an earthquake. SCAFCO Grain Systems Company always takes seismic activity seriously when designing grain storage systems. Read the full article here:

This wonderful Spanish-language video features an installation of six 200 MT SCAFCO Grain Systems Company hopper bottom silos storing coffee in Colombia!
A 5,000 MT flour mill project is underway in southern Peru! This installation includes two SCAFCO Grain Systems Company silos, each of which were specially designed for seismic zone 4 conditions. G140 coated steel will help combat humidity and moisture, and our customer added a spiral stairway for their personnel’s safety and convenience.
At SCAFCO Grain Systems Company, our engineers keep seismic conditions in mind at every stage of your project design. Why? See for yourself! Look how our bolts and stiffeners held up against our competitor’s after an 8.8-magnitude earthquake at this site in Chile.
Designed for severe seismic zone 4 conditions, stiffeners and anchor bolts kept this SCAFCO silo standing strong through a major earthquake in Chile.
On the same site during the same earthquake, our competitor’s anchor bolts and stiffeners failed. The silo collapsed.

Last year, a rice miller outside Battambang became #Cambodia’s first-ever private-sector recipient of a loan guaranteed by the Export-Import Bank of the United States. The milling company used this loan to purchase a storage system from SCAFCO Grain Systems Company!
Congratulations to all involved in the financing, purchase, and installation of these silos!
