Life is rarely easy. That’s why at SCAFCO Grain Systems Company, being Built For Life includes offering you out-of-the-box flexibility and creative engineering.
When a customer approached SCAFCO with some unusual requirements for stone and aggregate storage, our engineering department took up the challenge. The result? This 30’ (9.14m)-diameter hopper bottom bin with ten rings and an eave height of nearly 52’ (16m). That’s fairly standard. Less standard are the shell around the hopper, the giant access door, the lack of any roof, and the heavy reinforcement required to handle 70 pounds per cubic foot (16kg/m3) of crushed rock and mineral fragments. Several ladders and platforms were also included in the build.
