Another fine project supplied by loyal dealer T & S Sales Inc! These newly-erected SCAFCO Grain Systems Company 60 degree hopper bins in the US state of Idaho feature a custom discharge height. In use at a small business that supplies hay and other feeds, they store commodities like wheat, barley, and beans used for blending livestock feed.
As part of a trip to meet with customers last month, Latin America Sales Manager Sandra Dixon visited this SCAFCO Grain Systems Company installation in Costa Rica. These two silos were sold in 2016; now, the project manager has placed an order for two more, as well as two top chain conveyors, a catwalk, two inclined discharge conveyors, and a return conveyor.
Repeat business like this is common at SCAFCO. Sandra explains: “There is always competition, but in this case, it was our regular visits, customer service, and the high quality of our products that led the customer to continue with SCAFCO.”
On a recent trip to the Philippines, our International Sales Manager captured this photo of two SCAFCO Grain Systems Company hopper silos in use at a rice mill. These are just two of the four Model 1806SHBTZ4 silos this rice mill purchased in 2017. Unlike the six 42’ SCAFCO silos the mill is currently erecting for dry paddy storage in northern Luzon, the silos in the above photo are holding silos for wet paddy rice.
SCAFCO also provided all the bucket elevators and chain conveyors for this project.
Progress continues at a rapid rate on this customer’s expansion in Costa Rica. When complete, the two 72′ (21.95m) SCAFCO Grain Systems Company corn silos will feature spiral staircases (visible on lefthand silo in photo), double H aeration systems to keep the corn in good condition, and augers and conveyors to make unloading quick, easy, and safe.

On the third floor of this apartment complex for artists in beautiful Hawai’i, residents have free access to an urban community garden. The building itself was framed using steel from our sister company, SCAFCO Steel Stud Company: Proof that cooperation achieves great things.

Four Model 2432S were sold to store pearl barley in 1980 and four more in 1992. The two taller bins in these photos are model 2448S bins that were added later, and the larger, newer SCAFCO-branded bin in the middle is a Model 4861ES.
Last year, SCAFCO Grain Systems Company shipped three 5457ESZ4 silos (two of which are shown here) to a longtime customer in Colombia. Each silo stores 3,271 metric tons (120,199 bushels) of wheat. Along with four other SCAFCO silos on site, the flour mill now has a total storage capacity of 22,897 metric tons (841,393 bushels).
These silos measure 54’ (16.46 m) in diameter by 57’ (17.37 m) eave height by 72’4” (22.06 m) overall height, and will withstand Seismic Zone 4 conditions as well as 115 MPH (190 KPH) wind speeds.
A Stone Group of Companies employee spotted this SCAFCO Grain Systems Company hopper bottom bin on his recent trip to Idaho Falls.
Wood pellets, a valuable byproduct of Canada’s paper industry, need to be stored in a way that provides maximum protection from the elements. This producer in New Brunswick made the smart choice: They selected two SCAFCO Grain Systems Company hopper silos with letdown ladders and one silo on a custom load-out structure with a sifter on top.
SCAFCO elevators and incline chain conveyors are used to both load and unload these silos. This enables a receiving rate of 25 MTPH and a discharge rate of 100 MTPH. SCAFCO also provided elevator support towers at this site.

At 30′ (9.14m) in diameter and 59’10” (18.24m) tall, they are also equipped with ladders, platforms, roof stairs, and aeration systems – a great system that is used for storing palm kernel!
